Why Urethane?

Polyurethane compounds offer excellent abrasion resistance, high tear strength, and a good compression set. They have excellent ozone resistance and good temperature flexibility. The two main types of urethane offer their own special benefits. Polyester polymers: excellent resistance to hydrocarbon oils, lower gas permeation resistance comparable to butyl rubber, better high thermal resistance.

Polyether polymers: high friction coefficient (especially dry friction) and high rebound. Polyurethane polymers do have their weaknesses – thermal stability at elevated temperatures. The maximum operating temperature for polyurethanes is around 120°C, above which their properties drop significantly. Another disadvantage is their poor chemical resistance to strong acids, bases, and solvents like toluene, MEK, and EE Acetate. However, there are many other circumstances, such as exposure
to fuels, oils, and certain solvents, where polyurethanes will outperform. ElectroCoatings offers a rubber compound to address heat and all solvent issues associated with specific applications

Reasons to Choose Polyurethane Elastomers Over Other Materials

  • High abrasion and cut and tear resistance
  • Excellent dynamic performance at high load and speed
  • Good physical properties over a large range of hardness
  • Excellent oil and environmental resistance

Servicing Your Rubber Rollers

Rubber rollers protect, squeeze, feed, insulate, and move products, and there’s a different size required for every job. Depending on the task at hand, the right roller for the job has to have the correct bearing rating, axle deflection, and tube strength. They have to be made of appropriate materials and have proper finish.

Electro-Coatings can recondition, recover, and repair all type of rubber rollers with all types of finishes:

  • Smooth
  • High Polish
  • Micro Polish
  • Matte
  • Rough
  • Grooved
  • Crowned
