Nye-Tef™ is an advanced, proprietary electroless nickel coating that delivers exceptional lubricity, hardness and corrosion protection without sacrificing conformity to tight tolerances.
The use of a chemical coating process assures completely consistent deposition of the coating. Build-up along edges is eliminated, and intricate designs and internal components receive the same coating thickness as external surfaces. By controlling variables in the chemical bath, highly accurate coating thicknesses (to +/-10%) can be achieved in response to a customer's most demanding specifications.
In addition to coating consistency, Nye-Tef delivers an outstanding set of additional performance attributes:
- Friction control: the Nye-Tef matrix contains particles of PTFE, one of the most friction-resistant substances in existence. A hardness of 48Rc and exceptional surface smoothness combine to give Nye-Tef the ability to to handle heavy loads without significant abrasion over a long working life
- Corrosion resistance: A non-crystalline molecular structure and phosphorus content create a coating that resists various types of chemical incursion to the substrate. The coating's extremely high consistency also eliminates the microscopic fissures that commonly occur in electroplating. Chemical content of the coating may be adjusted to deliver the level of corrosion resistance desired by an end user
- Performance options: In addition to Nye-Tef, Electro-Coatings offers Nye-Carb for even greater wear resistance, along with a full complement of plating and coating options
