Nye-Tef's Unbeatable Friction Resistance
Nye-Tef™ is a PTFE Composite coating solution exclusive to Electro-Coatings, for applications requiring both exceptional resistance to friction and peak performance in coating adhesion. PTFE coatings are one of the world's most friction free materials. These surface coating solutions are self lubricating, highly resistant to corrosion and wear, and has excellent adhesion which allows for an increased control on uniform thickness. These attributes allow plated parts and materials to withstand temperatures up to 550° Farenheit. This coating is most often used for food processing and sorting equipment, molds, and drilling components that require the natural lubricity of the ptfe surface.
What is Nye-Tef™ Coating?
A Nye-Tef coating consists of an autocatalytically applied nickel/phosphorus matrix containing submicronic particles of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). The PTFE, while soft in its natural form, becomes exceptionally durable when suspended in the nickel matrix. A hardness of 48Rc, combined with the natural friction resistance of Teflon coating, or PTFE, yields a surface that can resist significant abrasion over a long working life. The coating's non-crystalline molecular structure adds resistance to corrosion and wear due to abrasion. The use of electroless nickel with the ptfe coating surface delivers a coating with excellent adhesion and extremely uniform coating thickness. Documented accuracy to +/- 10% is an assurance of consistent coverage. The non-electrolytic application technology of Nye-Tef provides completely uniform coating, including full coverage of hidden surfaces or intricate geometries.
