Nickel Chrome Plating – Corrosion Resistance
Nye-Croloy™ is our exclusive nickel/chrome plating solution. Originally developed to protect equipment in oilfield and pumping applications from corrosion, it has evolved into a coating that works in almost any application requiring increased corrosion resistance, including hydraulic cylinders & rods, print cylinders & actuator cylinders, outer drive units and more.
Chrome with electroless nickel for corrosion resistance
Industrial hard chrome is one of the industry standards against wear, but it’s no match for corrosion. Its natural microscopic crack pattern allows chlorides to corrode the substrate when exposed to weak acids or compounds such as hydrogen sulfide. Nye-Croloy applies an additional layer of electroless nickel such as Nye-Kote™ or Kanigen® as a barrier coating over the layer of electroplated hard chrome to prevent corrosive material from attacking the substrate. This nickel chrome plating solution is a cost-effective alternative for improving corrosion resistance in harsh environments. In addition, the high phosphorous content of electroless nickel provides high lubricity for friction resistance.
