Corrosion Protection by Electralloyâ„¢

Thin dense chromium plating for better resistance than traditional chrome
Electralloy Electralloy
Electralloy
  • Higher resistance to corrosion than standard chrome plating
  • Performs in temperatures from -425o to +1150o F
  • Low heat, thin coat won't change component dimensions
  • Fights friction with surface hardness to 70 Rockwell C

Electro-Coatings' exclusive Electralloy™ process delivers a strong, consistent, protective chromium finish without the component distortion and coating inconsistencies of traditional hard chrome plating.

Electralloy is deposed in a microscopically thin coating from 0.000025" to 0.0005" in depth, a density which will not materially change the micro inch value of the base metal. This surface of exceptionally dense chromium does not develop the microscopic fissures that develop through the standard process of chrome electroplating, allowing the substitution of low cost base metal for expensive corrosion resistant steels.

Electralloy combines this protection with other performance benefits:

  • Friction reduction: exceptional hardness and a high level of surface consistency provide a coefficient of friction 40% lower than lubricated steel (.12 to .13 vs, steel at .20). The result is a marked reduction in abrasion, erosion, adhesive wear, scuffing, galling, scoring and seizing.
  • Temperature stability: Electralloy maintains its corrosion protection and friction reduction capabilities across a wide temperature range, yielding consistent protection without degradation by extreme heat or cold.

Coated with craftsmanship
Successful application of a thin dense chrome coating depends on careful fixturing of parts and precise control of the plating bath. The plating craftsmen at Electro-Coatings have decades of experience at this critical process, along with the support of the latest costing technology and the engineering insight of plating, coating and metallurgy experts.
