Few surfaces of any type can match the wear resistance of Nye-Carb™, an electroless nickel coating that integrates microscopic, highly uniform particles of silicon carbide into the matrix.
The extreme hardness of silicon carbide...approximately 9 on the Mohs scale, compared to 10 for diamond...gives Nye-Carb the ability to bear heavy loads in the absence of consistent lubrication. As a bonus, Nye-Carb's silicon carbide content makes it one of the most heat-resistant coatings in the Electro-Coatings line.
Coating for precise parts
Coating consistency also minimizes the effects of abrasion on Nye-Carb. It is applied in a chemical process, relying on the reaction between nickel, phosphorus and the metal substrate in a high temperature bath. This avoids the coating inconsistencies of traditional electroplating. Wear surfaces stay consistently flat. Recesses and blind holes are uniformly coated. Thru-holes and bores remain straight and untapered in virtually any geometric configuration.
An Electro-Coatings exclusive
The durability and performance of Nye-Carb is available only from the coating industry experts at Electro-Coatings. Each application benefits from the engineering knowledge and coating craftsmanship of an experienced Electro-Coatings staff, working in a facility equipped with the latest process control technology. The result is consistent quality for industry's most challenging applications, delivered with maximum cost effectiveness.
